The city of DeKalb and students of NIU have welcomed us for many years,
and after hearing the news of the tragedy on February 14th, we decided
to give back and do whatever we could to help express how much the
community has meant to us. On April 8th, we donated all of our UM Live
sales to the NIU February 14th Memorial Fund as well as proceeds from
poster and ticket sales. In that spirit of giving back, we are providing
for all of our fans an opportunity to download the UM Live recording of
our return performance to DeKalb for free.
We encourage all Umphrey's fans interested in donating to this worthy cause to visit:

Sound is good, UM is solid. I have to say for the first half of the show the mix sounds a little Joel (keys) heavy for my taste but it still sounds good.
The whole show just drags a little and the first few songs (till GitVan) don't really hold my interest, I find myself skipping through often... Passing sounds a lot like album version just a little slow in tempo (noticeable).
WOW, dunno if that was a false start on GitVan but I actually kinda liked it. They start to pick up the pace a bit here! Some very nice solos, very technical but very soulful. They do lose some momentum with the end...
FEARLESS = A RARE, ACOUSTIC, PINK FLOYD MOMENT! HUZZAH! By far my favorite track of this show. An UM gem for sure. Only 4 recordings of this track on archive :)
A fairly heavy opening of Partyin' Peeps, it does have some good improvisations, good communication by the guys and is one of the better I've heard.
I've heard good things about this N2F... At the intro I was skeptical but it sucks you in to that happy place where UMphreaks lose themselves (like when you hear the Starwars theme in the Cemetery Walk II from 2009-10-29). FLAWLESS and BEAUTIFUL.
Straight into an... interesting Ringo. Some serious tomfoolery from a space cadet is at play. I can barely listen to the second half of the song without skipping.
After that its pretty standard until you get to Example 1, nothing too fancy (pun intended). Example 1 is the best I've heard. Great all around. Kudos to the guys.
Good Rocker II, N2F reprise, and WBG.
Over all I'd say the show is worth a download if you're an UMphreak who has lots of space on their drive but for beginners/those with limited space I suggest the following: GitVan, Fearless, N2F, and Example 1.
Tagging IS OFF! I added into iTunes and it is tagged as a 2007 show, UMlive says its '08. Set list doesn't say that any of the songs go into others (ex: Ringo>The Fuzz>Hajmemashite>Ringo)

is it just me or is the Example 1 one of the best ever??? smooth, soulful, sinister....check it out!!
and yes, the show as a whole is spectacular. I'd easily place it in my top UM shows. the setlist is out of this world and the jams are top notch.
download it and spread it around! I've turned tons of my friends on with Atmosfarag, Slacker, Get in the Van and Partying Peeps. long live UM!

These KB matrixes are always so consistently amazing. Kevin has it down to a science. Other Jam bands cannot PRODUCE a live recording that compares to what Kevin is capable of mixing/recording LIVE.

I've seen it all, we've got "jam snobs" here eh?
I'm sure the critics must have way better bands, but we just have never heard of them . Whatever!
Pull your heads out and smell the spring air.
Miserable jerks.
Great sound, Great Improvisations, Great Instrumentation, good setlist, nice energy

I thought the setlist was wrong but it turns out I had my player on shuffle. By the time I figured that out I was already so transfixed by the recording and the music I couldn't be bothered to get up and change it, so I listened to it for five hours. Worked just fine.

I was in St. Louis three nights before, and they've been on a roll ALL April...I've only listened to the Push the Pig -> JAM >Atmosfarag, but I've read reviews of this show before...Apparently there were no tapers, so this is HUGE!!! Thank You Management, Band, Crew, and especially the sound caresser himself, Kevin Browning who makes every show sound incredible... See you all in Memphis...

Once again a band gives back to a commuinty that has supported it for a long time. The offering of this quality show, the donation of their proceeds, and their kind words is simply the most amazing thing a band could do. Thank you UM for offering this show, it means a lot and says a lot about all of you.

This show was sooo worth the six hour drive. This show was sooo worth the 15 block walk in a freezing downpour (DeKalb does'nt have a cab service!). I walked into the Egyptian trippin' and drippin'! My 11th Umphrey's show since 07/19/07 and the best to date so far. I'm sure the clean-up crew had to break out the mops and squeegees because there were faces melted everywhere!
